Going Deep for a Solid Foundation
On this recent project, we excavated alongside the home to expose the existing footing and prepare for the installation of Chance helical piles. Helical piles are installed deep into the ground until they reach soil capable of providing the support the structure needs. And sometimes, that means going much deeper than expected.
Several piles on this project reached considerable depths before achieving the required installation criteria. One extended to approximately 93 feet below the foundation! Our crew continued the installation until each pile achieved the proper requirements rather than simply stopping at an estimated depth.
Once installed, the piles were connected to the existing foundation with underpinning brackets, providing additional support where the home needed it.
