Home Drainage Solutions

Reynolds Contracting specializes in earthwork repair for residential and commercial properties. We offer home drainage solutions and water management strategies to improve runoff around the base of your home and prevent foundation damage. In some cases, foundations and basements have already started to show signs of damage, which happened to one of our clients in the fall. The homeowner called us when water was coming in the crawlspace and basement at two points on the backside of the house.

At our initial site visit, we discovered multiple cracks in the garage and signs of excessive moisture on two walls. Our recommendation included new downspouts and drains away from the base of the house. Water causes more foundation damage than any other element. Proper water management limits damage and prevents problems in the future.

We began excavating a trench on the north side of the home, and installed a filter blanket and pond liner with peanut pipe. The layers of liner, drain fabric, peanut pipe, and backfill help filter water slowly, decreasing possible erosion. Additionally, our experienced equipment operators graded the area to allow the proper drainage on the ground surface level.

Finally, we spread grass seed and straw. This final step, combined with the drainage improvements, will make the best possible conditions for water drainage around this property from now on. We always work to prevent future problems; prevention saves money in the long run, versus fixing costly problems in a crisis. With these new drainage solutions in place, this homeowner should have a drier basement and fewer water problems around the property!
